Sossego Collection

With an organic approach to her work, SOSSEGO emerges as a natural continuation of Raquel Poço’s previous collections, revisiting textures and techniques that appeared in earlier pieces but were not fully developed. With a fluid working method, Raquel draws inspiration from her surroundings and allows the pieces to take on a life of their own, starting by experimenting with shapes and sizes, often letting the initial idea evolve—such as a necklace that suddenly transforms into earrings.

The jeweler explores fragrances, sensations, and favorite memories to create jewelry that is the truest representation of herself, appealing to a sensory perception of the objects through imagery. Brain, eyes, ears, mouth, nose, and skin are the essential tools in constructing what we understand as reality, and so we turn inward to discover both ourselves and the world.

THE COLLECTION

The Sossego collection is divided into the five senses: Hearing, Touch, Taste, Sight, and Smell.

SIGHT

“For me, "sossego" (quiet/tranquility in english) means stopping, living in the moment, feeling. I imagine myself with my family, friends, surrounded by nature, without thinking about anything, without worries, without stress," said Raquel Poço when she launched Chapter I, and she repeats it now because the invitation to slow down, although often difficult to accept, remains the same.

Essential to her creative process, sight is perhaps the most important sense for Raquel. It is through her vision and keen visual curiosity that the jeweler finds a starting point, an inspiration, often in seemingly ordinary shapes and textures that she encounters on the street in everyday life. "I am very visual; my visual memory is sharp, and I remember many things through sight."

TOUCH

Let’s travel back to the beginning, as it all started with touch. Long before becoming a jeweler, Raquel was a physiotherapist and Pilates instructor. "Touch holds a very special meaning for me because of my entire professional journey up to this point. Physiotherapy is touch. Pilates is touch. I have always used touch to help people," the creator explains. This mission served as the premise for Chapter IV of the SOSSEGO collection.

Rooted in the healing powers of touch, TOUCH arrives with the same regenerative effect, taking the form of jewelry pieces inspired by infinite textures and organic shapes.

HEARING

Protection, stimulation, communication—the sense that dates back to the first unicellular organisms is multifunctional, serving as more than just an analysis of first impressions. When we hear, we access emotions and memories in a vivid way, travel through time, embrace someone we love, and recall memories that bring us closer to ourselves.

TASTE

Eating awakens a multidimensional sensory experience, in which, within seconds, all the senses are activated—and of them all, taste is what defines the flavor of life. Sweet, salty, sour, it’s why we say something "tastes like honey" when things go well, and bitterness takes on the flavor of sadness or disappointment.
