Três Marias Collection

Past, present, and future materialized in unique jewelry that evoke tradition, unity, and history.

Gold-plated silver and silver, geometric and organic shapes, statement pieces and everyday wear—contrasting elements that come together in perfect harmony in this dual release from the Portuguese jeweler.

Maria — the grandmother Maria, the friend Maria, the granddaughter Maria, the Marias who made history, the Marias who changed ours. It’s hard to find another name in the Portuguese language that carries so many meanings, evokes so many memories, and feels as close and present as Maria. Its Hebrew origin, with religious connotations, has expanded into a multitude of roles and meanings that continue to gain significance with each new birth, consistently ranking as one of the most popular names for babies every year.

To speak of the Três Marias is also to honor a part of the feminist movement in Portugal— referring to the writers of The New Portuguese Letters of 1972: Maria Velho da Costa, Maria Teresa Horta, and Maria Isabel Barreno—and a personal part of jeweler Raquel Poço's life, as Maria is the name of her grandmother, mother, and daughter. Each piece in this collection is a fragment of history, with its name connected to the surnames of different Marias who, from the Arts to politics and science, contributed to structural change in Portugal.

“I didn’t have a set plan when I started thinking and designing this new collection,” explains Raquel Poço. “The name Maria evokes so many different references that all converge on a common point: femininity. This was my starting point, along with the way I like to create — drawing from personal memories and the environment around me.” Just like in her debut collection *Wabi Sabi*, inspired by Japan, elements of nature are a clear presence in *Três Marias*, accompanied by a style DNA that embraces imperfection, a result of handmade production that gives each piece a unique character.

Thus, through a blend of cultural, emotional, and fashion references, *Três Marias* emerges as a multifaceted collection designed for different audiences, occasions, and personal styles. Created with women and their identities at the center, it brings to life some key elements of contemporary jewelry, combined with timeless allusions and focused on the freedom of choice that each piece encourages.

THE COLLECTION

With a unique jewelry style, characterized by unexpected shapes, a variety of textures, and intertwined inspirations, Três Marias embodies a classic aesthetic in reinvented designs and details that appeal to a keen eye. Simple, organic, rustic, this is a collection that reinforces the designer's visual identity and invites a slow interpretation: earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and rings form a cohesive group message, yet it is in the details where each piece truly comes to life.

The design remains minimalist and the use timeless – with each piece handcrafted in silver and gold-plated silver, the absence of additional elements allows the silhouette of each jewel to stand out while also adapting to each wearer and their personal style. Conceived as tools for expressing the personality of those who wear them, Raquel Poço Jewellery pieces provide space for each woman's personal identity, serving as a complement to both their look and their personality.

The earrings come in different sizes, suited to various purposes, seamlessly transitioning between everyday wear and special occasions.

The necklaces with engraved pendants allow for interaction with other jewelry or can be worn alone, just like the bracelets that seem to naturally form around the wrist.

The rings range from more discreet styles to those with geometric shapes or central elements, and can be styled together or separately. "When I create a piece of jewelry, I don’t have a specific woman in mind – I create them as if they were for myself, with all the different references that occupy my mind," explains the jeweler, who draws inspiration from traditional Portuguese craftsmanship techniques – such as ceramics, basketry, and weaving – and a keen observation of the world, refined with each new stamp in her passport. "Perhaps that’s why the most rewarding feeling – and what I aim for with my work – is seeing someone wear my pieces, knowing that in some way I am part of their daily life and that I am likely contributing to them feeling more beautiful or confident."

The campaign

A 100% Portuguese setting complements the nationality of the collection. With aesthetic references that take us back to our origins and distance us from the technological distractions of modernity, Três Marias is a manifesto of naturalness, unity, and communion with nature. Like a breath of fresh air transporting us to a place untouched by time, traditional Portuguese elements blend with a palette of light tones – from visuals to hair and makeup – putting the spotlight on the new Raquel Poço Jewellery pieces. Célia Ferreira, Elisa Boto, and Mafalda Beirão embody the modern definition of femininity, with their personalities reflected in each photograph and their personal style respected. In the serene setting of Mafra, mirroring the same simplicity applied to Raquel Poço's work, the images evoke a mindful lifestyle, appreciating the small details of the present moment. The photography, a mix of analog and digital techniques, symbolizes the duality between past and future, conveying Três Marias’ core message: a collective identity created through individuality, respecting ancestry and oriented toward a future of sharing, hope, and community.
